Daily Hijab Style: SLOW AND STEADY

Perfection of effort is not required, by the way.
It is the consistency of attempting
to work that brings the progress.
It’s like anything else. If I want to tone muscle,
lifting a ten-pound weight a few times every day
will move me toward my goal much quicker than
hoisting a fifty-pound barbell once a week.
Yes, it really is true:
“Slow and steady wins the race.”
Just try a little, every day. You’ll see.”

Hehe, eventhough quotes from Holly Mosier is more about body lifting, but for me that is a beautiful quotes which can be applied in every single side of this life. Slow and steady. You know, in the real world we seldom find something works instantly, except noddles, junk food, and Idols contest. Besides we need a process and work hard to get the things done. This hijab style post rely so much on that quotes. Slow and steady. Remember, slow and steady! You can't be just slow but you don't have any goals to reach. Besides that from my point of view slow here means be patience, so when we wanna reach something we can start little by little, step by step.

And then I borrow it to put here and I post another style, free style of wearing my SAY Hijab shawl. I dare to do that free hijab style because I know however I'm trying to wear my SAY Hijab shawl, people would recognize that is SAY Hijab shawl.

PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO - JAKARTA FASHION STREET PHOTOGRAPHY #PART 2

At this post I would like to continue my latest blog post about fashion photography class hunting to Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, to find something "fashionable" on people there. As I told you on my latest blog post, me and my fashion photography classmate along with our teacher Mbak Sianny went to a sport field in Jakarta to practice how to take pictures of street fashion photography. Maybe you will think why we are going to such that place while there is Jakarta Fashion Week available that time where it will be much easier to recognize fashionable people there at Jakarta Fashion Week rather than at a sport field such Gelora Bung Karno. But my teacher has her own reason to put us there at a sport field where people actually does not going there to show off, they just wanna do sport and wear sport outfit that make them feels as comfortable as possible.

So that is the challenge, from thousand people who dressed as comfortable as possible to do sport, running, walking, aerobic there, could we find something fashionable on them? I must say it is not really easy to do that, meanwhile actually it is as simple as find a details on a short red pants that makes a simple red pants looks fashionable.

So here the rest of my favourite photography I shot that day. Enjoy my photography portfolio - Jakarta Fashion Street Photography part 2, People :)

This old man photography is one of my most favourite shoot that day. Eventhough I didn't shoot him for fashion street photgraphy purposes, I took his picture because it is interesting that he brought a pair of rollerblade along with him in Indonesian formal clothes named "batik".

And the last but not last, my beautiful yet brilliant fashion photography teacher, Mbak Sianny Widyasari. Pardon me for a little blurred picture, Mbak. And oh she is a professional fashion photographer in Indonesia. Check her works here. It is very nice to know her in person :)

PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO - JAKARTA FASHION STREET PHOTOGRAPHY #PART 1

It's been so long since my last photography blog post. Click here if you wanna check it. If it is not because of my fashion photography classmate, Kartolo I do not know when I am going to post the result of this fashion street hunting photos. As I told you in my another blog post before, I entered a photography school named Kelas Pagi Jakarta. And one of the class I participated was Fashion Photography Class.

My lovely teacher at Fashion Photography Class, Mbak Sianny Widyasari asked the class to do fashion street hunting at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta to practice our sensitivity through fashion. Eventhough it was in a sport arena where not so many Jakartans really dressed up to go there, but whether they conscious about it or not, actually they do applied fashion taste onto their outfit, even as simple as mix the same colours into their outfit or wearing one stunning fashion stuff as their outfit.

Here is some of my Jakarta sport fashion street photography. I'll post the rest of my photography another day. Enjoy and challenge yourself to find what heaven called "fashion" on those people :D

DAILY HIJAB STYLE - PORCELAIN

When I fell to me knees, to sew the damage shut,
I couldn't believe... A bright, staggering light
Came flooding into me, from out of the seams.

So I reached deeper in
And pulled my whole world wide open,
And for each broken mile, a billion
Miracles happen at once
In everything...in everything.

Everything I love, was made of porcelain,
Ready to break. But the bright, staggering light,
It anxiously waits inside. Like nesting dolls,
And like every birth, it was a necessary pain...
I know, I know... It's all worth the wait,
Worth the weight.
Sleeping At Last - Porcelain

COCO ROCHA - I HEART

Hello!

This time I would like to share about my favourite top model, Coco Rocha. I heart Coco Rocha because she has a strong personality in her carrier as a top model. She has her own rules when taking a modelling job and she respect her decision so much. Such as Coco Rocha participate in a campaign againts eating disorder which is really happening in the modelling industry, she does not do smoking poses, and she has her own rules about how much her skin can be shown to public. And the sweetest thing about Coco Rocha is she is married. Cute, eh? I think all of model, and all of us, people, should have our own personality about what is wrong and what is right for us. We should dare to yes or no when facing any challenges in our life.

And oh the other things I heart about Coco Rocha is she has thousands of unique, quirky yet cool poses. I love the way she moves her body when posing. Like she does not affraid to look weird in all her poses. Coco Rocha is so adorable. Sometimes, honestly I don't really like to show my weird face at my photos to public, but then I'm learning about how precious I am God gives to me. Because hey that's me, that is Yulia Rahmawati. And yes, I adore people who really apreciated and accepted the way God creates and gives to them. Because I know it is not easy to accept who we really are. It's the basic of human nature.

Here I copied some of her portofolio that I took from her personal website, www.cocorocha.com. Maybe someday I'll make a blog post with poses like Coco Rocha. Hope my Coco Rocha poses fits my height and my body. Hehhe.

This is Coco for Harpers Bazaar Singapore

Super cool, eh? I can't help my self to yell or just say whoaaah, or something like that when seeing any video of photoshoot that worked with Coco Rocha. This is one of my favourite video where Coco Rocha posing in a photoshoot for a magazine cover. Enjoy!

DAILY HIJAB STYLE - THE CLOSED WINDOW

Close the language-door
and open the love-window.
The moon won't use the door,
only the window.”
Rumi

At this hijab style blog post I will just post about the very first photo I used to show my hijab style. This time I prefer to show my daily hijab style through a video I made. And you will see there is a short story, a little bit fairy tale look a like, as a concept of my hijab style blog post for this time. I hope you guys enjoy watching my hijab style video which has a tittle "The Closed Window".

The concept comes from my habbit looking outside my window, seeing Jakarta sky from my room. And my everyday view from the room is that closed window. That windows closed all day. And I just curious why and imagining some stories related to that closed window including this one like you will see in my hijab style video. Enjoy my hijab style video " The Closed Window" ;)

DAILY HIJAB STYLE - LE LAPIN ROSE

“Run, rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly”
― Pink Floyd

And for all Moslem in the world, I wish you a very Happy Islamic New Year 1434 H.
Barakallah toward us and all of people in this world. Amin ya rabbal 'alamin.

This time I'm trying different way of photoraphy technique to capture my hijab style. This hijab style inspired by a pink rabbit or in french called "Le Lapin Rose". Le lapin rose means "The Pink Rabbit". But because I don't have the real pink rabbit for my hijab style blog post, I just collect every single thing I have related to rabbit for my hijab style blog post. And I also try to take pictures like the result of film photography for my hijab style. It is always fun trying something new. And I also create a photo story for my hijab style post. Hope you like it, People, my Le Lapin Rose Hijab Style ;)

DAILY HIJAB STYLE - GIRL IN A STRANGE LAND

“We are all strangers in a strange land,
longing for home,
but not quite knowing what or where home is.
We glimpse it sometimes in our dreams,
or as we turn a corner,
and suddenly there is a strange,
sweet familiarity that vanishes almost as soon as it comes.”

On @Ladyulia: // Baby pink Pashmina: SAY Hijab // Under hijab: Lestari // Navy long sleeves T-Shirt: Pink Adobe // Jasmine Skirt: Gift from Mom // Accessories: Yulia Properties // Pink Wedges: Crocs //

Sometimes, I feel like a strange girl in a strange land. Why? Because even I go to a certain almost everyday, but I still feels like a girl in a strange land. It is always something new, people, things, stuffs, and many others that makes me feels like a girl in a strange land. So that I named my hijab style blog post as girl in a strange land. This hijab style much inspired by an empty place near my house at my hometown. It is harsh, bold, tough, dry, and fragile. So that I don't wear many colours for my hijab style since I wanna make it simple. As simple as the strange land near my house. And I also do not wear much photos for this hijab style post. I've told you I wanna make this hijab style post as simple as possible. Hope you like it :)
